AlgoLaser Smart Enclosure for Laser Engravers

The AlgoLaser Smart Enclosure is designed to create a more controlled, organized, and convenient working environment around compatible open-frame laser engraving machines. It combines a protective enclosure with intelligent functions such as a built-in camera, cover detection, lighting, and fan control.

When used with compatible AlgoLaser machines, opening the enclosure cover can automatically pause laser emission, while closing the cover allows the engraving workflow to continue. This provides an additional layer of operational protection and makes regular laser engraving more convenient.

The built-in camera can capture the engraving area in real time and works with LightBurn for visual positioning and job setup. This makes the Smart Enclosure particularly useful for workshops, schools, studios, craft businesses, and users who want to upgrade an open-frame laser engraver into a more integrated workspace.

Smart Cover Detection

When connected to a compatible AlgoLaser machine, the enclosure can detect when the cover is opened.

Opening the cover pauses laser emission, helping prevent the laser from continuing to operate while the user is accessing the engraving area. Once the cover is closed, the engraving workflow can continue.

This smart interaction is available with supported AlgoLaser machines and is not necessarily available when the enclosure is used with third-party laser engravers.

Built-In Smart Camera

The Smart Enclosure includes a camera that captures the engraving workspace in real time.

When used with LightBurn, the camera can help users view the workpiece, position artwork, align engraving jobs, and prepare layouts more conveniently.

This is especially useful for irregularly shaped materials, pre-cut blanks, coasters, signs, tags, scrap materials, and batch engraving jobs.

LightBurn Camera Support

The camera function is designed to work with LightBurn.

After calibration, users can view the engraving area inside LightBurn and position artwork directly over the visible workpiece.

LaserGRBL does not currently support the enclosure's camera positioning function.

Smart Fan and Lighting Control

The Smart Enclosure supports software control of its internal fan and lighting system when used with compatible AlgoLaser equipment.

The internal lighting improves visibility of the working area, while fan control supports a more integrated engraving workflow.

This allows several enclosure functions to be managed together rather than requiring separate manual operation.

Large Internal Working Space

The enclosure can accommodate laser machines with dimensions up to approximately:

This provides enough internal space for a range of compatible open-frame laser engraving machines.

Always compare the complete dimensions of the laser machine, accessories, rotary system, raisers, and cables before installation.

Useful for Cleaner Laser Workspaces

An enclosure helps separate the laser engraving area from the surrounding workspace and provides a dedicated space around the machine.

When connected to a suitable extraction or smoke purification system, it can form part of a more organized smoke-management setup for engraving materials such as wood, plywood, MDF, leather, and acrylic.

Adequate ventilation and extraction should always be used according to the material being processed.

Suitable for AlgoLaser Smart Workflows

The enclosure is designed to integrate with compatible AlgoLaser machines, allowing the laser engraver, enclosure camera, cover detection, lighting, and fan functions to operate as a more connected system.

AlgoLaser states that the Smart Enclosure 2.0 is not compatible with the Delta for its intended smart workflow.

Third-Party Laser Engraver Compatibility

Laser engravers from other brands may physically fit inside the enclosure if their dimensions are within approximately 733 × 785 × 323mm.

However, smart functions are limited when used with other brands. The camera can still be used where the computer and software support it, but functions such as automatic cover detection and integrated smart control are designed for compatible AlgoLaser machines.

Compatibility Note

Smart features such as automatic cover detection, laser pause/resume interaction, fan control, and lighting control depend on the connected AlgoLaser machine and supported setup. Physical fit alone does not guarantee access to all smart functions.

Usage Note

Install the enclosure on a stable, level working surface and ensure adequate ventilation or smoke extraction before operating the laser. Complete camera calibration in LightBurn after installation, and avoid changing the position of the machine or camera after calibration unless the camera is recalibrated.

Note

The smart hub is a necessary tool for using the smart enclosure and smart air pump at the same time.

For most DIY KIT 5W/10W users that haven't use smart air pump can choose the enclosure only.
