AlgoLaser Smart Camera for Laser Engravers

The AlgoLaser Smart Camera is a laser engraving positioning and monitoring accessory designed to bring a visual workspace directly into LightBurn. Once installed and calibrated above the engraving area, the camera allows users to see the actual workpiece inside the software and position artwork directly over the material before starting engraving or cutting.

This is especially useful for engraving irregularly shaped objects, pre-cut blanks, scrap materials, coasters, tags, signs, and batch jobs where manual measurement and repeated framing can take extra time.

With a 5MP HD camera, wide field of view, large workspace coverage, image tracing, and video recording capability, the AlgoLaser Smart Camera is a practical upgrade for improving positioning accuracy and workflow efficiency.

Visual Positioning in LightBurn

After camera calibration, the engraving bed can be displayed directly inside LightBurn. Artwork can then be positioned over the visible workpiece instead of relying only on manual measurements or repeated frame tests.

This is particularly useful when engraving objects that are already cut to shape, such as coasters, tags, wooden blanks, leather pieces, signs, and irregular offcuts.

Large Work Area View

The Smart Camera is designed to provide an overhead view of the laser engraving workspace, with a maximum viewing range of approximately 550 × 800mm depending on mounting height and installation position.

The wider view helps users position materials across larger working areas and makes the camera useful for both standard and extended laser engraving setups.

5MP HD Camera

The camera features a 5MP sensor with a resolution of 2592 × 1944 pixels. Its wide-angle lens helps capture a large working area from a fixed overhead position.

A clear camera image makes material edges, existing markings, and engraving positions easier to identify during job preparation.

Image Tracing

The camera can be used with LightBurn's image tracing workflow to capture suitable patterns and convert their contours into vector paths.

This can be useful for reproducing hand-drawn shapes, existing artwork, outlines, templates, and other simple physical designs for engraving or cutting.

Batch Engraving and Multi-Object Processing

For multiple items placed on the engraving bed, the camera can help users visually locate each object and position individual artwork over them in LightBurn.

This is useful for batch engraving products such as coasters, keychains, tags, business cards, wooden blanks, leather patches, product labels, and personalized gifts.

The Smart Camera is not intended for AlgoLaser Pixi.

Software Compatibility

The primary camera workflow is designed for LightBurn. The camera allows the work area to be displayed inside LightBurn for calibration, positioning, tracing, and job preparation.

A LightBurn license may not be included with the standalone Smart Camera. Check the selected package before purchase.

Usage Note

For accurate positioning, install the camera securely and complete both lens calibration and camera alignment in LightBurn. Avoid moving the camera, mounting stand, or laser engraver after calibration. If their relative positions change, recalibration may be required.

Camera positioning accuracy also depends on mounting height, workpiece height, lighting, calibration quality, and how securely the camera and engraver are installed.
