The Anycubic Hardened Steel Nozzle for Kobra S1 Max is an original replacement nozzle designed for the high-temperature quick-release hotend system used by the Anycubic Kobra S1 Max and Kobra S1 Max Combo.
Hardened steel provides substantially better wear resistance than standard brass, making these nozzles particularly suitable for abrasive composite filaments such as carbon-fiber-filled materials. The Kobra S1 Max is supplied with a 0.4mm hardened-steel nozzle as standard and supports additional 0.6mm and 0.8mm hardened-steel options for applications requiring increased material flow.
Combined with the Kobra S1 Max's 350°C hotend system, the hardened-steel nozzle provides a durable extrusion path for both everyday materials and compatible engineering filaments.
Original Anycubic hardened-steel nozzle
Designed for Kobra S1 Max and Kobra S1 Max Combo
Available in 0.4mm, 0.6mm, and 0.8mm diameters
Higher wear resistance than standard brass nozzles
Suitable for compatible abrasive composite filaments
Works with the Kobra S1 Max quick-release hotend system
Suitable for general and engineering-material printing
Designed for the printer's high-temperature hotend platform
Hardened steel is designed to resist wear caused by abrasive filament additives.
Materials containing carbon fiber, glass fiber, or other hard particles can gradually enlarge the opening of a standard brass nozzle, affecting extrusion accuracy and print quality.
A hardened-steel nozzle provides improved durability when printing these materials regularly.
The Kobra S1 Max officially supports a broad range of materials including composite engineering filaments such as:
PLA-CF
PETG-CF
PA6-CF
PC-CF
PC-GF
PET-CF
For abrasive materials, hardened-steel nozzles are preferable to standard brass because they maintain their nozzle diameter for longer under repeated use.
Anycubic currently offers three hardened-steel nozzle diameters for the Kobra S1 Max:
| Nozzle Size | Typical Application |
|---|---|
| 0.4mm | General-purpose printing, detail and versatility |
| 0.6mm | Faster printing, higher flow and composite materials |
| 0.8mm | High-flow printing, large parts and thicker layers |
Each diameter provides a different balance between detail, printing speed, flow rate, and resistance to clogging.
The 0.4mm hardened-steel nozzle is the standard nozzle supplied pre-installed on the Kobra S1 Max.
It offers a good balance of:
Fine detail
Surface quality
Printing speed
Layer-height flexibility
General-purpose usability
It is suitable for users who want one nozzle for both conventional and selected abrasive materials.
The Kobra S1 Max package also includes a 0.6mm hardened-steel nozzle.
The larger opening allows greater material flow and can reduce printing time on larger models.
It is particularly useful for:
Carbon-fiber-filled filament
Large functional parts
Faster prototyping
Stronger thick-wall components
Higher-flow printing
Anycubic specifically recommends 0.6mm hardened steel as the preferred size for many abrasive composite filament applications because the larger opening reduces the likelihood of clogging.
The optional 0.8mm version is intended for applications where maximum detail is less important than high material throughput.
It is suitable for:
Large-format models
Thick layers
Large functional parts
Rapid prototyping
High-flow extrusion
Selected abrasive composite materials
A larger nozzle can substantially reduce print time for large objects when used with suitable layer heights and print profiles.
The Kobra S1 Max uses a quick-release nozzle system that allows nozzle changes without lengthy hotend disassembly.
This makes it practical to keep different nozzle sizes available for different jobs and switch between them according to the required balance of detail and printing speed.
Always allow the hotend to cool and follow the correct Anycubic replacement procedure before removing the nozzle.
The Kobra S1 Max hotend supports temperatures up to:
350°C
This allows the printer to process a wider range of engineering materials than conventional lower-temperature desktop printers.
Nozzle temperature should always be selected according to the filament manufacturer's recommendations rather than simply using the printer's maximum temperature.
Abrasive filament can gradually wear a nozzle opening from its original diameter.
As wear increases, users may experience:
Over-extrusion
Reduced dimensional accuracy
Inconsistent line width
Poor surface quality
Difficulty maintaining calibrated flow
Hardened steel significantly slows this wear compared with softer brass nozzles.

Other Anycubic printers using different hotend systems
Hardened Steel
Better wear resistance
Recommended for abrasive filament
Longer lifespan with fiber-filled materials
Available in 0.4 / 0.6 / 0.8mm for Kobra S1 Max
Brass
Higher thermal conductivity
Ideal for conventional non-abrasive filament
Softer and wears faster with abrasive composites
Anycubic lists a separate 0.25mm brass option for the Kobra S1 Max
For regular PLA and PETG printing, either compatible nozzle type can be suitable. For frequent carbon-fiber or other abrasive filament use, hardened steel is the better choice.
1 × Anycubic Hardened Steel Nozzle for Kobra S1 Max
Nozzle diameter depends on the selected product variant.
Before replacing the nozzle:
Switch off the printer
Allow the hotend to cool completely
Remove the existing nozzle according to the Anycubic quick-release procedure
Confirm the replacement nozzle diameter
Install the new nozzle fully and securely
Reassemble the toolhead correctly
Update the nozzle diameter in the printer and slicer if changing sizes
Run the appropriate printer calibration
Check the first layer before beginning a long print
When changing nozzle diameter, update the nozzle configuration in Anycubic Slicer Next or the selected compatible slicer.
Parameters that may need adjustment include:
Nozzle diameter
Layer height
Line width
Flow rate
Print speed
Maximum volumetric flow
Retraction
Filament profile
Using slicer settings intended for a different nozzle diameter can result in poor extrusion or print quality.
For abrasive carbon-fiber or glass-fiber-filled filaments, Anycubic recommends hardened-steel nozzles rather than standard brass or stainless-steel alternatives. A 0.6mm hardened-steel nozzle is particularly suitable where reducing clogging risk and maintaining durability are priorities.
Select the nozzle diameter according to the required balance between fine detail, extrusion flow, print speed, and filament type.
