More info

The Anycubic Dual Sided Textured PEI Steel Build Plate is a flexible magnetic printing surface designed for the Anycubic Kobra X and Kobra X Combo.

Featuring textured PEI printing surfaces over a flexible spring-steel core, the plate provides reliable first-layer adhesion while allowing finished models to be removed easily after cooling. The flexible design lets users lift the plate from the magnetic heated bed and gently bend it to release completed prints.

With an overall size of approximately 264 × 276mm, the plate is designed around the Kobra X's 260 × 260mm XY printing area and is suitable as either a replacement for a worn original plate or a spare surface for frequent printing.

Key Features

  • Dual-sided textured PEI printing surface

  • Flexible spring-steel construction

  • Designed for Anycubic Kobra X

  • Approx. 264 × 276mm overall plate size

  • Approx. 0.4mm plate thickness

  • Magnetic installation and quick removal

  • Reliable adhesion for compatible FDM materials

  • Flexible design for easier print removal

Dual-Sided Textured PEI Surface

The build plate provides textured PEI surfaces designed to support reliable first-layer adhesion while giving the underside of printed models a fine textured finish.

Using both sides of the plate provides additional flexibility for regular printing and helps extend the practical service life of the build surface.

Designed for the Kobra X

The physical plate measures approximately:

264 × 276mm

and is designed for the Anycubic Kobra X platform.

The printer itself provides a:

260 × 260 × 260mm build volume

The slightly larger physical plate allows it to align correctly with the magnetic heated bed while covering the complete usable printing area.

Reliable First-Layer Adhesion

Textured PEI provides good adhesion for many common FDM materials when the surface is clean and the correct printing temperature is used.

A correctly prepared build surface helps reduce:

  • Corner lifting

  • Warping

  • First-layer separation

  • Model movement during printing

  • Uneven first layers

Good adhesion also depends on correct bed leveling, Z-offset, nozzle temperature, bed temperature, and filament profile.

Flexible Spring-Steel Core

The build plate uses flexible spring steel rather than a rigid glass surface.

After printing:

  1. Allow the plate and model to cool.

  2. Remove the steel plate from the magnetic heated bed.

  3. Flex the plate gently.

  4. Allow the printed model to release from the PEI surface.

This can make part removal significantly easier, especially for larger models with a wide contact area.

Magnetic Installation

The Kobra X uses a magnetic spring-steel build-plate system.

The plate can be:

  • Installed without tools

  • Removed quickly

  • Repositioned easily

  • Swapped with another compatible plate

Before installation, make sure both the magnetic bed and underside of the steel plate are free from filament fragments, dust, or other debris.

Even a small object trapped underneath can prevent the plate from sitting flat and affect first-layer consistency.

Heated Bed up to 100°C

The Kobra X heated bed supports temperatures up to:

100°C

The PEI spring-steel plate is designed to operate with this heated magnetic platform.

Actual bed temperature should always be selected according to the filament being used rather than automatically operating at the maximum temperature.

Suitable for Common Kobra X Materials

Anycubic lists the Kobra X as supporting materials including:

  • PLA

  • PETG

  • TPU

  • PVA

  • PLA-CF

  • PETG-CF

  • ASA

The textured PEI build surface can provide a practical platform for many of these materials when used with suitable bed temperatures and filament-specific printing settings.

Some materials may require an adhesive or separation layer depending on how strongly they bond to PEI.

Easy Model Removal

One of the main advantages of a flexible spring-steel plate is easier print removal.

After the print finishes, allow the bed to cool before removing the plate whenever possible.

Many materials naturally release more easily as the plate temperature drops.

For larger models, flex the plate gradually rather than using excessive force or sharp scraping tools.

Useful as a Spare Build Plate

Keeping an additional build plate can improve printing workflow.

One plate can remain with a completed model while it cools, while another plate is immediately installed for the next print.

This is particularly useful for:

  • Print farms

  • Small-batch production

  • Workshops

  • Schools

  • Prototyping

  • Frequent Kobra X users

Applications

  • General FDM 3D printing

  • PLA printing

  • PETG printing

  • TPU printing

  • Composite filament printing where compatible

  • Replacement of worn PEI build plate

  • Replacement of damaged spring-steel plate

  • Spare printing surface

  • High-volume printing

  • Print farm operation

  • Workshop and production use

Compatibility

Compatible with:

  • Anycubic Kobra X

  • Anycubic Kobra X Combo

The standalone and Combo versions use the same Kobra X printer platform and accessories.

Do not assume compatibility with other Kobra models purely from the printing-area dimensions, as plate size and alignment geometry may differ.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Keeping the textured PEI surface clean is important for reliable first-layer adhesion.

For routine care:

  • Allow the plate to cool before cleaning

  • Remove filament residue after printing

  • Handle the plate mainly by its edges

  • Avoid touching the printing surface with oily fingers

  • Clean the surface when adhesion begins to decrease

  • Avoid sharp metal scrapers

  • Avoid damaging the textured PEI coating

Contamination from skin oils or filament residue can significantly reduce adhesion.

Installation Note

Before installing the plate:

  • Clean the magnetic heated bed

  • Remove all filament fragments and debris

  • Align the plate correctly

  • Make sure it sits completely flat

  • Confirm that no corner or edge is raised

  • Run leveling if required

  • Check the first layer before starting a long print

Changing to another build plate can slightly affect the nozzle-to-bed relationship, so verifying the first layer after replacement is recommended.

Package Includes

  • 1 × Anycubic Dual Sided Textured PEI Spring Steel Build Plate for Kobra X

Usage Note

Allow the plate to cool before removing most finished models. Prints often release more easily after the material and PEI surface return toward room temperature.

For materials that bond strongly to PEI, use an appropriate adhesive or separation layer rather than forcing the model from the surface. This helps protect the textured coating and extend the life of the build plate.
