Polymaker Panchroma Matte PLA Muted Colors is a collection of soft, understated PLA shades designed for prints where a refined matte appearance is more important than bright or highly saturated color.
The muted palette combines Panchroma Matte's smooth, low-gloss surface with carefully toned-down colors that work especially well for architectural models, interior accessories, figurines, product prototypes, decorative pieces, organizers, and modern design projects.
Panchroma Matte is the current name for Polymaker's well-known PolyTerra PLA. The formulation remains the same, offering easy PLA printing, low warping, strong part cooling performance, and an attractive matte finish that helps reduce the visual appearance of normal FDM layer lines.
Dedicated range of soft and muted matte colors
Smooth low-gloss surface finish
Helps visually reduce FDM layer lines
Easy-to-print PLA-based material
Supports print speeds up to 300mm/s
190–230°C recommended nozzle temperature
No heated enclosure required
Suitable for most 1.75mm FDM 3D printers
The Muted Colors range is designed around subdued shades that provide a more restrained and sophisticated appearance than conventional bright PLA colors.
Current Polymaker Panchroma Matte muted shades include:
| Color | HEX Reference |
|---|---|
| Matte Muted White | #BBADA4 |
| Matte Muted Green | #777E71 |
| Matte Muted Blue | #5F778E |
| Matte Muted Purple | #7C5C78 |
| Matte Muted Red | #D84B2E |
| Matte Muted Moss | #92864F |
| Matte Muted Teal | #5D989E |
| Matte Muted Mauve | #A36D82 |
| Matte Muted Terracotta | #C06443 |
Available colors depend on the selected variant and current stock.
Panchroma Matte produces a soft surface with significantly less shine than standard glossy PLA.
The reduced reflections make layer transitions less visually prominent and can give printed objects a more finished appearance without requiring painting or extensive post-processing.
This makes it particularly suitable for objects that will be displayed or handled as finished products.
Muted shades work especially well where bright primary colors would be visually distracting.
They are suitable for:
Interior accessories
Architectural models
Product mock-ups
Decorative objects
Sculptures
Figurines
Plant pots
Storage organizers
Minimalist designs
Educational models
Lifestyle products
Colors such as Muted Moss, Teal, Mauve, and Terracotta can also provide natural or earthy tones for decorative and artistic projects.
Panchroma Matte PLA is the renamed version of Polymaker PolyTerra PLA.
According to Polymaker, the material formulation itself has not changed.
Users familiar with PolyTerra PLA can therefore expect the same general printing behavior and characteristic matte surface under the Panchroma Matte product family.
Panchroma Matte is designed to print easily using normal PLA conditions.
Polymaker recommends:
Nozzle temperature: 190–230°C
Bed temperature: 25–60°C
Cooling fan: ON
Maximum printing speed: up to 300mm/s
A heated enclosure is not required.
This makes the material suitable for both open-frame and enclosed desktop FDM printers.
Panchroma Matte supports printing speeds up to 300mm/s on suitable machines.
Modern high-speed printers can therefore produce models significantly faster while retaining the characteristic matte appearance.
Actual usable speed depends on:
Hotend flow capacity
Nozzle diameter
Layer height
Printer acceleration
Cooling performance
Model geometry
Required surface quality
Older or lower-flow printers can simply operate the material at conventional PLA speeds.
Polymaker recommends using the part cooling fan during printing.
Strong cooling helps newly deposited material solidify quickly and can improve:
Overhangs
Bridges
Sharp corners
Fine features
Small details
Dimensional stability
For most applications, standard PLA cooling settings provide a good starting point.
Panchroma Matte does not require an actively heated enclosure.
Its PLA-based formulation has relatively low shrinkage and can be printed reliably on open-frame desktop printers.
An enclosed printer can still be used, but excessive chamber temperatures are generally unnecessary for PLA printing.
Panchroma Matte is slightly more abrasive than standard glossy PLA because of the additives used to create its matte surface.
A normal nozzle is suitable for regular printing.
For users printing large quantities continuously, such as print farms or production environments, a hardened nozzle may provide improved long-term wear resistance.

Suitable for most FDM / FFF 3D printers using 1.75mm filament, including compatible printers from:
Bambu Lab
Creality
Anycubic
Elegoo
Flashforge
Prusa
QIDI
Snapmaker
Other compatible 1.75mm FDM printers
Maximum practical printing speed depends on the capabilities of the printer and hotend.
Store the filament in a sealed, dry environment when it is not being used.
If the material has absorbed moisture, Polymaker recommends drying it at approximately 55°C for 6 hours.
Moist filament can cause:
Popping during extrusion
Excessive stringing
Rough surface texture
Inconsistent material flow
Reduced print quality
For longer-term storage, keep the spool in a sealed container or filament dry box with desiccant.

Select the required muted color variant before ordering.
Although Panchroma Matte supports printing speeds up to 300mm/s, the best speed depends on the printer, hotend flow capability, layer height, nozzle size, and required surface quality. For highly detailed decorative prints, reducing speed may provide an even smoother and more consistent matte finish.
